Blockbuster, A Film By July Hygreck

Just a quick note (apologies for how quiet it’s been around here this past week, btw) in recommendation of July Hygreck’s film Blockbuster, which arrived on Netflix recently.

I watched the film over the weekend and enjoyed it a great deal. It’s a fun and romantic flick as is the wont with much contemporary French cinema, albeit one with a knowing bent, and an appreciation for the cinematic form in a wider context. Popular culture is celebrated, with the film making for a refreshing take on how independent cinema sees its bigger budget brethren. A couple of impressive cameos only further my recommendation.
