Melville and Noirvember.

This Noirvember I will mostly be concentrating on the films of Jean-Pierre Melville. Perhaps France’s greatest purveyor of crime-driven cinema, a new box-set of the director’s work is due in a couple of weeks time, so I’ll be examining the films that comprise that collection, with especial focus on the one that I haven’t seen before, namely Un Flic.

In a curious but most welcome coincidence Melville’s most-beloved film, Le Samouraï, finally reaches Blu-ray courtesy of the Criterion Collection next week, so expect a thorough reading of that in the coming days too.

Further adventures in Noirvember can be found on Twitter.
